Today marks a big milestone. It’s the 7th anniversary of the Mister Productivity Podcast. When I launched this show back in 2017, I never imagined I’d reach this point. Not only have I hit the 7-year mark, but this is also episode number 1,287. It’s truly incredible to reflect on how far we’ve come.

The Spark That Started It All

In the spring of 2017, I stumbled upon a video by Gary Vaynerchuk, an entrepreneur I greatly admire. Gary said, “the future is voice and audio.” He stressed that everyone should have a podcast. As a former radio DJ from the ’80s and early ’90s, this idea resonated with me. Could I, Mark Struczewski (aka Mister Productivity), really have my own podcast?

Intrigued, I turned to Google with the simple query: “How do I start a podcast?” The answers I found set me on this incredible journey.

The Early Days: Keeping It Simple

My podcasting adventure began with GarageBand on my Mac. I’ve since upgraded to Hindenburg for solo episodes. I use SquadCast for interviews. But, neither of them sponsor the show.)

Following advice from seasoned podcasters, I kept things simple at first. My first 17 episodes were solo, allowing me to find my footing in this new medium. As I grew more comfortable, I added guest interviews. I alternated between solo and guest episodes.

The Daily Podcast Experiment

In late December 2020, I was inspired by Gary Vaynerchuk’s prolific content creation. I embarked on an ambitious challenge: releasing a new episode every day. This daily streak lasted from Christmas Day 2020 until the second week of October 2021.

This experiment pushed my boundaries as a creator. It also brought much stress. The constant pressure to produce was hard. This was especially true when guests canceled. It led me to reassess my approach. Today, I release new episodes every Monday. I’ve settled into a more sustainable weekly pace.

Rebranding and Growth

It was originally “The Mark Struczewski Podcast.” The show rebranded in December 2022. On the advice of a coach, I renamed it “The Mister Productivity Podcast.” This fits my brand and expertise better. I’ve since trademarked “Mister Productivity” and secured MisterProductivity.com.

Looking Back and Moving Forward

I celebrate my 7th anniversary. I’m grateful for the journey and excited for what’s to come. From those first steps into podcasting to now over 1,200 episodes later, it’s been incredible.

To all my listeners, guests, and supporters: thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to many more years of productivity insights. And to engaging chats on the Mister Productivity Podcast!
